When Kimberley got in touch regarding their backyard wedding just out of Ohakune I knew it was the kind of wedding I absolutely love to be part of. All about family, relaxed and no fuss. Right up my alley. The other aspect that excited me is I spend a lot of time in this little Manawatu town. At the base of Mount Ruapehu it’s Winter wonderland fun with snowboarding and skiing and the rest of the year is fabulous for scenic and adventure mountain bike trails, river rafting, canoe trips, Mountain hikes; scenic forest and waterfall walks. For such a little town it packs a punch.
They were gifted a stunning February Summers day. The marquee was up in the back yard. They married under the apple tree. The family pets wandered, as did the kids, Grandad lounged in the shade while the ceremony was in progress. I love these weddings where there are no rules, no formalities. Kimberley had warned me they didn’t want to spend long on their wedding photography it was all about family time and celebration.
